Thanksgiving Foods that are BAD for your little TURKEY!

As much as we all love our Thanksgiving feasts there are certain things that are not good for your dog during our Thanksgiving festivities. We all know that getting together for Thanksgiving with family and friends is a great time with everyone passing out after the big meal but keep in mind to
watch your dog as you take your "siesta".

  • Do not give Bones to your dog. Sounds weird but it's true. Turkey bones, ham bones are all bad for your dog and could cause you a trip to the Vet. Make sure that when you discard the bones that they are thrown away where your dog cannot get them.
  • No uncooked or raw turkey. Your dog can get salmonella bacteria from the raw meat.
  • No Turkey skin. You are thinking that if you can eat it why can't your pet. Your dog cannot digest fatty foods and turkey skin and gravy can cause some serious tummy issues.
  • No cookie dough or cake batter. The raw batter and or dough can actually rise in your dog's stomach and cause major abdominal pain.
  • No alcohol - bottom line. Alcohol can cause a rapid heartbeat, seizures and liver damage in your dog and it can be lethal.
  • No Macadamia Nuts - these nuts are the worse and your dog can be affected so seriously that he might not be able to stand.
  • No onions/ no garlic / no sage - trust us, these are all bad combinations.

Be on the safe side this Thanksgiving and all throughout the holidays and give your dog healthy dog treats from Gerbeaux Dog Bakery. All the dog treats are made with pet safe natural ingredients. To read more about Gerbeaux Dog Bakery's ingredients and why dog's love them, check out our website at www.Gerbeauxdogbakery.com and order some today in time for the holidays.

Halloween Safety Tips for your Dog!

Trick or Treat'ers can be a bit hard on your dog - so make sure that you know all the Halloween Safety Tips for your dog this spooky season!

According to the ASPCA there are several precautions to take this Halloween season to make sure that your little goblin is safe.

  • Make sure to keep all candy out of reach of your dog. No chocolate, no sugar and certainly no Xylitol (artificial sweeter). All can be dangerous for your dogs.
  • Watch the decorations. Items such as scarecrows, corn, pumpkins etc. can all be fatal for your dog if ingested or "gnawed on". If you plan on putting a candle inside your carved pumpkin - your little can knock it over and or get burned.
  • If you have cords and or wires around for your decorations or lights - keep them out of reach from your dog. If your little spookster is a "chewer" - this could be a problem. Your dog can be burned or shocked and could be life threatening.
  • If you are going to "dress up" your little ghost make sure that he or she is in a costume that doesn't cause undue stress to your dog. Dog Costumes can add a bit of un-easiness to your little one and then add the "knocking on the door" and the "yelling" of TRICK or TREAT!
  • When you open the door to the neighborhood kid's, make sure that your dog is in another room during those peak hours of Trick or Treaters. When the door is knocked or the doorbell is rung - your dog could get excited and could dart out the door. Keep in mind "stranger danger" - but in another way. You may not know how your dog will respond to all those kids!
  • Make sure that your dog always has on a collar and a dog tag. If your dog should get out, he will need to be able to be found. Without a dog id tag - it will be harder to locate him.

Take care of your dog during this spooky season by taking extra Halloween precautions. Just a few simple steps will pay off! It would be devastating if something happened to him or her and you can avoid it by taking simple steps.

When all the "hoopla" is over - reward your dog with a healthy dog treat for Gerbeaux dog bakery!

Why choose Gerbeaux Dog Bakery?

Why should you choose Gerbeaux Dog Bakery for your dog treats? Why should you trust US with the health  of your best friend?

We will tell you why! Jennifer, owner of Gerbeaux Dog Bakery has worked with animals for over twenty years, both Veterinary and Hospitality always knowing someday she would open my own pet business. She just didn't know exactly what it would be, or when.

After watching her two Shih-Tzu's constantly get sick after eating store bought treats, Jennifer decided to start baking treats for them herself so she would know exactly what they were eating.
What a difference it made...no more sick kids! At that point Gerbeaux Dog Bakery was started for both my love of baking and for all furry kids.

Gerbeaux Dog Bakery provides healthy dog treats that are made with simple, clean ingredients. All of our dog treats are free of wheat, corn and soy because they are three of the biggest culprits as far as food allergies in dogs. Our "All Natural" peanut butter is made from 100% peanuts that we grind here in our store, nothing else. We use sugar free yogurt for our icing that can be flavored with peanut butter or carob. Our healthy dog treats are sweetened with organic raw wildflower honey and/or blackstrap molasses. For our toppings we use coconut and some sprinkles. With the exception of our sprinkles everything is sugar free.

All of our dog cookies are made in small batches and are hand cut and decorated in our dog bakery located in Greenwood, Indiana.

Gerbeaux Dog Bakery uses locally sourced human-grade ingredients from right here in the US. All treats are under strict analysis and testing by the Indiana State Chemist, located at Purdue University.

We work very closely with local rescue groups and our local Humane Society. A percentage of the proceeds from all our homemade dog treats goes to helping every pet find their forever loving home.

Follow Gerbeaux Dog Bakery on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest and read our Blog to learn more about us and our products.
